    .

    OBSOLETE
    Harris County Texas Sheriff's Dept.
    LARGE 17.50" tall
patrol car 7-point star badge front door emblem sticker
.  This sticker is 25+ years old and is old surplus new old stock (NOS).  It was part of a surplus supply that was left over from back in the day when the Sheriff's Office was changing the decal scheme on their patrol cars back around 1996-97.
Please note the following disclaimer; description photos #7, #8, #9 and #10 are images depicting an actual period Harris County Sheriff's Dept. marked Chevrolet Caprice, Ford Crown Victoria patrol car and an example of the department badge for the purpose of visually illustrating the same large star badge door emblem sticker that was used and affixed to the patrol car's front door panels back in the day.  These (4) four photographs are for illustration purposes only and are NOT included in the listing and/or sale of the star badge sticker.
The highly REFLECTIVE sticker has never been peeled and remains in "unused" condition.  The sticker was manufactured by
    3M
    "
    Scotchlite
" and retains its original protective coverings over both the front and back of the sticker.  The back covering is
    opaque and
would be peeled away before mounting thus exposing the sticky adhesive back so the emblem could be laid flat upon the patrol car door panel for installation.  After being installed, the front transparent protective covering would then be peeled away and off of the sticker to reveal a beautiful highly-reflective white-silver with blue lettering Sheriff's Dept. patrol car door star badge sticker.
The large 17.50" patrol door star badge emblem was patterned to replicate the exact design of the Sheriff's Dept. uniform badge that is worn by the department's sheriff deputies.  Refer to description photos #7, #8, #9 and #10 for visual confirmation.  This style star badge patrol vehicle door emblem design was used for only a short period of time during Sheriff Johnny Klevenhagen's administration between approximately the early 1990's to approximately 1996-97 shortly after he resigned his position and left office.  Subsequently, when the newly sworn Sheriff (Tommy Thomas) assumed the reigns of the Sheriff's Office he ordered a change to the existing colors and decal scheme on all the department's patrol vehicles beginning around approximately 1996 - 1997.
This large patrol door star badge emblem is made out of highly-reflective vinyl and measures approximately 17.50" tall by 17.50" wide from star point to star point.  The sticker has dark blue color lettering atop a white-silver highly reflective background.
There is a noticeable but very minor condition on the vintage star badge patrol door sticker that involves the sticker's "removable"
    front
transparent protective tape covering.  Due to the sticker's age this "removable" covering has acquired a little age discoloration that is mostly concentrated around the sticker's star points.  The center of the sticker appears to have less to no discoloration toning as is evident in the description photos.
PLEASE NOTE, I PARTIALLY PEELED BACK THE FRONT "TRANSPARENT" REMOVABLE PROTECTIVE COVERING ON THE LOWER RIGHT STAR POINT IN ORDER TO ILLUSTRATE AND VERIFY THAT THE FRONT OF THE VINYL STAR STICKER WAS NOT ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY THE AFOREMENTIONED AGE DISCOLORATION.
THE NOTED DISCOLORATION IS ONLY LOCATED ON THE SURFACE OF THE "REMOVABLE" PROTECTIVE COVER SHEET
AND NOT ON THE ACTUAL STICKER.  THE PROTECTIVE COVERING ON THE STAR POINT WAS IMMEDIATELY RE-SECURED WITH A SMALL PIECE OF YELLOW STICKY PAD ADHESIVE PAPER SO AS NOT TO CAUSE ANY DAMAGE UPON ITS REMOVAL.  PLEASE REFER TO THE LAST TWO DESCRIPTION PHOTOS #11 AND #12 TO CONFIRM WHAT I DESCRIBE
    .
The back side of the sticker's removable opaque protective tape covering also has some minor signs of
age discoloration that is mostly concentrated around the sticker's star points too.
The covering has numerous 3M Company stampings intermittently printed across the sheet that read as follows.
    "Scotchlite"
    "BRAND"
    "Reflective Sheeting"
    "Controltac"
    "BRAND"
    "Adhesive"
    "680 Series"

Please note, as previously disclosed, the "removable" protective tape coverings on both the front and back of the star badge sticker have never been peeled away.  This vintage reflective door sticker has never been used and inasmuch remains in new old stock condition.  The aforementioned notwithstanding, the sticker is in fact over 25 years old so I cannot attest to whether or not the adhesive has remained viable over the past two and a half decades.  Nevertheless, because this sticker remains in "unused condition", the front side of the door emblem remains in beautiful condition and will still display nicely even if the back of the sticker needed to be re-glued before mounting.
Don't let this beautiful looking piece of Texas law enforcement memorabilia pass you by, I am certain these AUTHENTIC large star badge patrol door panel emblems are few and far between.  Once they are sold you will more than likely not see another one being offered on eBay again anytime soon.
