    Title:

    Publication:
    Oakland. Thomas Brothers. 1943
    Description:
    Oakland. Thomas Brothers. 1943.
Black and white double-sided street map on sheet size 22 x 34 inches, folding as issued into paper folder, 8 3/4 x 5 inches, front map measures 20 1/4 x 30 inches, map on verso measures 21 x 30 1/2 inches. Covers worn with 2 inch tear to back cover and a couple of short tears to front cover; map in very good, crisp and clean condition. Excellent detail on the maps: "Thomas Bros. Map of The City & County of San Francisco" and "Thomas Bros. Map of East Bay Cities" that appear on separate sides of the sheet along with indexes to streets. East Bay cities include Oakland and Emeryville, Berkeley and Albany, Contra Costa County, Piedmont, Alameda, and San Leandro. The Hunter's Point area shows dry dock areas, but the future extensive land reclamation of the area is indicated only by dotted lines with Bay View Park still located on the Bay front. In the Laguna de la Merced area (at lower left) four golf clubs are named including the California Golf Club and Harding Municipal Golf Links, along with Fleishhacker's Playground and Zoo. To the north of the Central Basin are marked the Santa Fe Yards and to the Union Iron Works. An uncommon map of San Francisco during the years of World War II. Item #54467
